a new way
to use
screen
For my Applied Arts Advanced Diploma degree end-of-study diploma project, I choose to tackle the way we use the screens today. Indeed, we all have a relationship with screens both in our personnal daily lives and professional, this objects became, step by step essential. However, for health professional, education professional and users themsleves, this objects can only be harmful.
Through the written of my research paper et my first research, two leads of research appeared :
Take break from screen by your own and finding this intimacy that we are losing slowly, especially since the arrival of the Internet.
Through these two lines of research I wish to highlight the fact that the screen object is neither harmful nor an object of separation but it is the use that we make of it that has it.
Photographic research around movements, gestures and postures related to the use of the screen.
get into intimacy
This filters are possible answers related to the lead of research on intimacy, they allow the users to hide or put forward some parts of his screen to show that he is feeling spied or start a discussion so that screen go from sepration object to an interaction's support.
Each of this filters are accompanied by an explanatory sheet : on the recto an image which looks enigmatic and on the back an explaination about how the filter have been created and the link between operation or the filter's goal and the image on the back.
This models, by their size and their forms aim to put the one who is watching in a position of voyeur. Through its humorous dimension, this models question this intrusion while editing by its playful side allows to stage the model.
go out of the screen
The second lead of research, about taking a break from screen by yourself is a series of GIFS that would be used as a timer, the user would choose a duration of use and after that duration the GIF starts until it invades the whole screen and make it useless. Then user would also choose the time the GIF works, and this time would a break time for the user.
This lead of research splits in two parts, the first one represents the effects that eyes can feel after a long use. The second links a software, what we can do with it and its counterpart in the reality like the software pages and some pens in order to recreat a link between user and the reality whose he belongs.
